We are an IAC2 mold inspection, testing, and indoor air quality certified.
The first step of our mold inspection services is finding the source of the problem causing moisture and to determining where and what type of mold we are dealing with. We use IAC2 certified collection procedures and professional lab services to analyze and report on all samples taken during the inspection.
Mold removal becomes increasingly more involved and costly the longer that the mold is allowed to develop. If you have any doubt concerning the presence or severity of mold growth in your home, give us a call and schedule a mold inspection service today!
There are three goals of a mold inspection:
- The first is to find out if and where mold is growing in your home.
- To determine the types and concentrations of molds present.
- Find the source of water which created the environment for the mold to grow.
Molds are organisms which are part of the fungi kingdom. Unlike, plants which use chlorophyll in the photosynthesis cycle to produce energy and molecules for growth, molds digests the material they are growing on to survive. Prolonged exposure to sunlight actual begins to kill molds.
For mold to develop in your home, there needs to be a source of oxygen, organic material and most of all there needs to be a source of MOISTURE. Mold problems cannot develop in your home unless there is a moisture source. Moisture sources can be created by high humidity, plumbing leaks, water intrusion through walls –windows-foundation walls, overflowing gutters, and roof leaks. Most molds only require suitable materials to be wet for 24-48 hours before they can grow. The key to mold prevention and elimination is moisture: Call for a mold inspection to help identify your potential issues.
Mold growth is not always visible which can present a problem in discovery. However, growing mold whether hidden behind walls or in the floor or building materials has a strong telling musty odor. Molds give of gases call Microbial Volatile Organic Compounds (mVOCs) which can be picked up by our olfactory senses (nose).
MVOCs can also cause symptoms in building occupants, including headaches, nausea, dizziness, fatigue and increased allergy and asthma symptoms. If anyone living in the home is experiencing any of these symptoms in combination with a musty odor in your building, it’s very likely that you have a hidden mold problem that needs to be investigated during a mold inspection.
