New Construction Fireplace Insert

The view of a fireplace insert is not meant to be a technical overview.

I was not on a home inspection but on a visit to a new home construction site. The fireplace insert was installed, however, the drywall was not yet in place.

I thought some homebuyers who have never seen behind the drywall at a fireplace would enjoy this view.

The insulation and HDMI/COAX connection tube is in place.  Also, in the process, we found a leak at the chimney flashing.

This picture shows the placement of the Chimney Cricket and the cricket flashing.

During a home inspection, we check for the proper installation of the chimney cricket and chimney flashing.

This is often a common area of water penetration in older homes.
